Laura Linney's portrayal of vulnerable and yet powerful characters has made her one of today's greatest American actors. Her father was a celebrated playwright, but Linney was raised as an all-only child by her single-mother and nurse. In the summer, while with her dad Linney was able to develop a passion for the theatre. Her first stage experience was first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. After just two short years after graduation, she launched her Broadway-based career. In the following year, she made her first appearance in TV and film. She has appeared in innumerable movies, television shows and stage shows since. She received many accolades throughout her career including four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of her many nominations, she has a passion for acting and has performed on both screen and stage.
