Jennifer Garner, born April 17th, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was raised within Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner served as an engineer for Union Carbide. The mother of her Patricia Ann taught at a local college. To follow in the tradition of her father, she graduated as a chemical engineer. She moved into New York in order to pursue her dream of becoming an actor. The Broadway roles were accompanied by a job at a local establishment. She was in a minor part in the film "Felicity" (where she first met Scott Foley). Garner made her mark with the romantic comedy "13 Goin' on 30" in which she played a teenager trapped in an adult's body. Garner decided to choose Gary Winick to direct the film. They continued to look for other projects until Winick's death in 2011. in 2009 Garner has been named as an ambassador to the arts for Save the Children U.S.A. Alongside encouraging early education, literacy and nutrition on a national level, Garner's role involves promoting national literacy. Garner was named as a director on the board of this non-profit organisation in the year 2014. Garner advocates for early childhood development. As an ambassador, she often meets with families who are part of the organization's Early Steps to School Success program. The program guides parents on ways to assist the children of the early years develop.
